I remember playing wotlk back when it came out and how popular it was. I stopped playing because of realm I was on was a bit toxic at the time. Was 4.3.4 that bad? I never got to play it at that time.

it wasn't. it was just too short because it spent lots of its dev time on the early game, at the cost of the end game and people were alienated by the streamlined class designs and increased difficulty

4.0.3a was a mess because the class balance was all over the place
4.0.6 rebalanced almost all classes and disarmed the snowball effect of Tol Barad - but it had no new content
4.1.0 was shortliving because it was just two new heroic dungeons as a catchup mechanic for raiding
4.2.0 was the hardest tier and some realms didn't even beat ragnaros on heroic until late 4.3
4.3.0 was messy again because the trinkets were so utterly overpowered

(Cata was also ahead of its time, as 4.3 was the first patch that introduced the raid finder, which was hated originally but these days, it's a essential part of the wow gameplay and even during the classic re-iteration people wanted it)

well lfr is in a weird place on retail atm, loot is worthless, you get same ilvl (sometimes even better) in open world content

I'm aware that blizzard has moved from cata awhile a go, i was refering to TCPP, which I know when cata classic came out it was work done under TC's branch, which stop the moment blizzard release mop as far a i remember.
My issue is that with or without the latest commit and patcher I still cannot login into the server in the same machine as the client

TCPP is exclusively for 4.3.4.15595
Cata Classic is... well, exclusively for Cata Classic's final build. Which was 4.4.2.60895.
TCPP requires either a pre-patched binary which is what most pservers use these days. To enable support for it, it requires the legacy connection mode to be enabled in the config. Alternatively you can use the compiled client laucher to run an original .exe file with in-memory patches to handle both world sockets.
Cata Classic requires the Arctium client launcher, as it needs to perform similar actions on top of having to redirect some URLs to custom CDNs.
If you have missed to download 4.4.2 while it was live on Classic servers, you're essentially screwed as that build is gone for good.

I've only tried 434 didn't even dig at all for the 442
I generated the client data and pulled the exectuables from the downloader.
I ran once wow-64 so it generated the conf file, and closed it.
I did enable after you mentioned the legacy option on the world setting.
I've tried client_launcher_64.exe when it opens the client, doesn't connect and same if open the wow-64.exe after.
Same goes for if i use the connection_patcher.exe and rename %patched files to original names.
And I've removed the launcher of wow from the folder.
Just gave me the generic timeout error from blizzard (without legacy)
With the legeacy enabled it does give me a different error
"Login server down" (if patched via connection patcher)

Yes, as you understood, I haven't downloaded version 4.4.2, that's why I am looking for a kind soul to help me in my quest. You just need a minimum version to download. Since I know that people work in development here, I thought they are my last chance because I tried to launch tools to find this version but the tools are still searching, they can't find the whole client. If you can help me, I would be grateful to you.

A stripped-down (not full) version of the Cata 442 client can be downloaded from the Whitemane CDN, but it doesn't have the retail directory or the build.info file, so maybe something else is missing.

I'm fairly new to private server, but do have some experience with c++ and DBs, mainly used azerothcore and have started looking at cata servers. I love trinitycore as I found a fork with most of the gilneas quest line fixed. But I'm used to playerbots in azerothcore, I've seen that mangos three has them but the gilneas quest line is buggy and incomplete. Just wanted to see.

Probably someone already forked 434 TC and added Playerbot, but unlike AC, don't except a add a module is working, you would need to modify the core itself to have bots, Mdic up here probably knows more since he does the SP repacks

All of the repacks I'm finding aren't free (Also heard some bad stories about some, viruses, etc), I'll have to look into adding it myself, I'll see how I get on. Thank you!

Sorry, I have looked at the forks but couldn't find any talking about playerbots implementation. When doing a google search for 'trinitycore 4.3.4 playerbots' the first search is for a repack. But I'll continue looking.

Hey there, just now getting into looking at setting up a Cata server to mess around in. I have seen the statement that the TC uses 4.4.2.60895 client, and others claiming it uses a 4.3.4 client, and then there's claims that you could use the Whitemane Gilneas client. I was just wondering if someone could help me iron out what is actually correct, what client is compatible, and where would be the best place to start with setting up my own mostly solo server?

One peculiar thing about Cataclysm is that it's special, in that it can use both the old and new on-the-wire protocol; Cataclysm is when Blizzard themselves transitioned

Hi, no, you can't use an emulator on 4.4.2 with a client on 4.3.4 because the 4.3.4 client is completely different from 4.4.2. To run the 4.4.2 emulator, you need compatible DBC, map, VMAP, MMAP files and the associated client.

But to learn, you can use the TCPP emulator which is very good; it's based on a TrinityCore branch. Ovahlord Shauren and the others did a really great job.

let's clear up things here a bit.
4.4.2 is the cataclysm classic re-boot of blizzard from last year. This is what the cata_classic branch is made for.
4.3.4 is the old original version which is supported by my old fork which is often refered to as TCPP. That's the old client from 2012.
Both of these have completely different protocols, data formats and underlying systems so consequently you cannot mix these up.
With that being said, cata_classic is essentially no longer supported as I am not going to further work on that branch as the client did not live up to my expectations.
Funjoker eventually tried to bring wotlk_classic back from the dead when the chinese re-release happened but after not getting any contributions again, this one ended up stale as well.
